The following 2008 article was written by Laurie Mylroie, a highly regarded expert on the Middle East. Many of her findings were summarized in my article Bush Lied, People Died, which explains Saddam's convoluted but likely involvement in 9-11.
I rediscovered the article just now and decided that it was too good to file. It highlights the fact that New York City's FBI office considered it an operating assumption that Iraq was behind the 1993 WTC bombing, and underscores the long held assumption that most terrorist activities are state sponsored.
Laurie's article was in response to a criticism of her criticism of a book by Andrew McCarthy. Mylroie was essentially ostracized by the analyst community for her views. But her research was much more thorough than theirs, and her views were shared by most veteran law enforcement officials familiar with the details of the 1993 bombing.
The vicious, ad hominem attacks against her had all the hallmarks of typical Washington DC self-preservation tactics. In short, if your analysis stinks, attack the analyst who has done a better job. They go away and you win by default. It is a too-frequent tactic of the self-serving Washington DC analytic community.
But that kind of group think carries heavy costs when it infects those tasked with sizing up our enemies. People forget that the notion of terrorists as "non-state actors" was a novel construct of the Clinton Administration, in direct defiance of conventional wisdom, and prevented us from looking too closely at the powers behind the scenes of the 1993 bombing. If we had, perhaps 9-11 could have been prevented...
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Writing Blind
A response to Andy McCarthy.
By Laurie Mylroie
In a mixed review of Andrew McCarthy’s Willful Blindness, I criticized the book for slighting the role of states in terrorism. McCarthy’s outsize response — a 3,000-word pejorative/adjective-laden assault in National Review Online — suggests the review hit upon a significant and sensitive point. Extensive name-calling typically obscures a weak argument, or at least attempts to do so, even as this debate involves the national-security issue of the day, including why the United States is engaged in its most serious military campaign in three decades and whether the decision to overthrow Saddam Hussein’s regime was correct. Few questions merit more careful consideration.
1) McCarthy’s NRO piece introduces matters not in my review and misrepresents them. In the mid-1990s, I approached the Manhattan district attorney’s office, because I believed the federal government was gravely mishandling terrorism by treating it almost exclusively as a law enforcement issue. McCarthy, an unexpected guest at that meeting and one whose contribution then consisted mostly of shouting at me, errs on the date of my briefing there. It was not 1993 or 1994, but January 13, 1995 (as noted in my book on the subject, Study of Revenge, p. 277). The trial of Sheikh Omar had just begun, with jury selection underway.
I had not expected to brief the federal prosecutors, but at the last moment, the Manhattan DA’s office decided not to take up the issue, but leave terrorism to the federal government (a policy reversed after 9/11.) My main point was that treating terrorism on the scale of the two very large and ambitious plots that had occurred in New York in 1993 as a law enforcement matter was so grossly inadequate, it would only invite more attacks. Of course, that has now become conventional wisdom, embraced by McCarthy among many others.
The essential points of that briefing were published as the lead article in The National Interest (Winter 1995/96) with Vincent Cannistraro (chief of counterrorism operations for the CIA) hailing it as “one of the most brilliant pieces of research and scholarship in the area that I have ever read.” Eric Breindel, in a New York Post editorial, endorsed the “important article” and its critique of the dangerous inadequacies of Bill Clinton’s law-enforcement approach to terrorism. And The Washington Monthly highlighted it with a “Journalism Award.”
With support like that, my briefing can scarcely be dismissed as “loopy.” Indeed, if that were so, why would McCarthy sit for nearly two hours, listening to me, particularly with his trial of Sheikh Omar in progress?
2) The suggestion that Iraq was behind the February 26, 1993, bombing of the World Trade Center is supported by New York law enforcement. Indeed, New York FBI, the lead investigative agency, suspected the attack was a false flag operation carried out by Iraq. That was reflected in the contemporary reporting, including in the New York Times. That is also why, in 1994, when ABC News and Newsweek did a joint investigation into the WTC bombing, for which I was consultant, we focused on Iraq.
Jim Fox headed New York FBI and the WTC bombing investigation. As Fox wrote of Study of Revenge: “This work is the most comprehensive and best researched review of the bombing investigation. . . . I found it to be extremely accurate, and although we are unable to say with certainty the Iraqis were behind the bombing, that is certainly the theory accepted by most of the veteran investigators.”
Gil Childers, the lead prosecutor in the WTC bombing trial (Mohammed Salameh, et al), was considered to be the U.S. official who knew the most about that bombing, and he also attended my briefing. Childers’s response was quite different from McCarthy’s. Childers later spoke at the book launch for Study of Revenge and described it as “work the U.S. government should have done.”
3) The case against Sheikh Omar was weak — as McCarthy himself states in Willful Blindness, “It would be a challenge to find charges that would both fit our evidence and overcome inevitable First Amendment protests against the purported stifling of religious conviction and political dissent.”
So different acts of violence, including the WTC bombing, were somewhat artificially linked to make the charges against Shaykh Omar strong. Consequently, most Americans, including even U.S. officials, believe Sheikh Omar was behind the WTC bombing — which is also the impression that Willful Blindness gives.
Yet as McCarthy states in his NRO piece, his defendants “were not charged with the substantive crime of bombing the World Trade Center.” That is precisely my point — not something that I “mulishly [refuse] to hear,” as McCarthy perversely claims.
4) Once that is understood — Sheikh Omar et al. were not substantively involved in the WTC bombing — we can ask the question: Who was?
The WTC bombing is of particular importance for explaining why we are fighting in Iraq. Of all the major terrorist attacks since the 1991 Gulf War in which suspicion might fall on Iraq, it is easiest to make a case for Iraq’s involvement in the WTC bombing. It was the first, and the cover was thin.
By August 1993, U.S. authorities had arrested four Islamic militants for the WTC bombing. In addition, there were two indicted fugitives — both with ties to Iraq. It is a bit odd that we did not widely suspect Saddam’s hand then. The basic problem was that the Clinton White House did not want to hear Iraq was behind the attack, because it would be obliged to address the problem in a serious fashion (that became evident to me over the course of several meetings with Martin Indyk, Clinton’s NSC adviser on the Middle East, whom I knew well, as he had brought me out of academics to work at the Washington think tank he headed, before he joined the Clinton administration.)
By June 2002, U.S. authorities had identified the mastermind of the 9/11 assaults, describing him as the uncle of the WTC bombing mastermind, and both men were involved in a 1995 plot to bomb a dozen U.S. airliners. As CIA Director George Tenet told the U.S. Congress: “We now believe that a common thread runs between the first attack on the World Trade Center in February 1993 and the 11 September attacks,” explaining that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind, is the uncle of Ramzi Yousef, who masterminded the WTC bombing.
Thus, if one can demonstrate Iraq was behind the 1993 bombing, one has also demonstrated it was behind the airline bombing plot. Most importantly, one has gone far in suggesting why a reasonable person might also think Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks — and why the Iraq war is a necessary part of the GWOT.
5) A question of very broad strategic significance also looms: To what extent are the networks of Islamic militants penetrated and sometimes supported by states that use the militants for their own purposes? Despite all the injunctions against group-think issued after 9/11, McCarthy, et. al. want to impose just such a stifling consensus and silence the dissenting voices that may exist, like mine.
The Reagan years saw a fierce fight over a closely related issue. The view that prevailed was promoted by figures like CIA Director Bill Casey and journalist Claire Sterling: Major terrorist attacks, particularly against the United States, are basically state-sponsored. That remained the consensual perspective through Bush 41. Are we really sure that this changed so radically a mere month into Clinton’s first term in office?
Considerable evidence exists to support the notion that Islamic networks are thoroughly penetrated by states, including evidence presented in Willful Blindness, highlighted in my review. Yet we are not allowed to consider this point and its implications, even as it, quite arguably, represents a dangerous strategic vulnerability: any enemy state that infiltrates the networks of Islamic militants can attack the United States with impunity, as long as that state takes sufficient measures to hide its hand from our incurious eyes.

Suvorov's Methodology
I have asserted for years that al Qaeda and for that matter the entire "radical Islamic" offensive, are cutouts for the Soviet Union. They are a great big False Flag operation, designed by the Soviet Union to distract us while they plan our demise.
I have also stated repeatedly that the "fall" of the Soviet Union was a deception campaign as well, taken right from the pages of Sun Tzu, who counsels: deny your enemy an enemy. By feigning collapse, the Soviet Union effectively denied us an enemy, and provided Washington with a grand excuse to slash military budgets and downsize all elements of our defense posture. By 2000 we were operating under hollow force conditions - our weakest point since before WW II and one of the reasons al Qaeda chose to strike.
I was able to predict what we would face in Iraq before the war started, not because I have any special wisdom, insights or predictive powers, but only because I have studied for years and thoroughly understand Soviet communist tactics and strategy.
I have also asserted that we went into World War II as a united country because the U.S. communists and fellow travelers were frantic that their beloved Soviet Union was under threat by Nazi Germany. Perhaps there was even a deeper reason.
With these things in mind, the following may well be the most important essay you ever read. Read it and fully absorb its meaning:
Suvorov's Methodology
Remember These Words?
Quote:
This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed... when the roar of the crowd fades away... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot... what exactly is our opponent's plan?
What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger... take more of your money... give you more orders from Washington... and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy... our opponent is against producing it.
Victory in Iraq is finally in sight... he wants to forfeit.
Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay... he wants to meet them without preconditions.
Al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America... he's worried that someone won't read them their rights? Government is too big... he wants to grow it.
Congress spends too much... he promises more. Taxes are too high... he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.
The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes... raise payroll taxes... raise investment income taxes... raise the death tax... raise business taxes... and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.
Now who said that? Oh yeah, that air-headed, George W. in drag, pig with lipstick from Alaska. What did she know?
Arrogance is contemptible. Liberal arrogance is inexcusable, and we are all going to suffer for it.

Democrats Call for “Truth and Reconciliation”
The Obama administration has moved forward with lighting speed to impose its agenda upon us before anyone can mount an effective opposition. This has obviously been planned for a long time. That we have been so poorly served by our duly elected politicians, especially three Senate Republicans and virtually the entire Democrat Party, is discouraging beyond words.
Unless some of these people get a serious dose of moral integrity overnight, Obama's massive spending bill will become law, and the beginning of the end of our great nation will hove into sight.
It is now becoming apparent that a large proportion of the bill is nothing more than a massive collection of earmarks (although I told you that would happen a few weeks ago.) But it is different in that the lengths they have gone to hide the authorship of those earmarks are unprecedented.
Usually earmarks have the lawmaker's name attached to them, but not in this bill. You have to really search to find the person behind it. But that person is there, when you look hard enough.
There is the pathetic case of the $300 million "golfcart" earmark, only they call them "neighborhood electric vehicles." Is this the beginning of mandated green cars like the Pelosi GTxi?
Since these carts are produced in North Dakota and Byron Dorgan (D-ND) sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, it seems obvious that he would be the source of this particular "stimulus." Or maybe he just happens to be from North Dakota?
Then there is the case of the $2 billion for a "near-zero emmissions power plant." The only place one of these was ever considered was, you guessed it, Illinois. But the project was abandoned due to the evolution of newer technologies.
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich then tried to restart the project with a half-million dollar lobbying effort paid for by Illinois taxpayers. He's gone now, of course... But the entire Illinois delegation has apparently been trying to get this back on the burner too, so presto chango! There it is. An earmarked $2 billion waste of taxpayer dollars brought to you by No-Earmarks-Obama and the most ethical administration in history.
Where have we heard that before? Oh yes, Nancy Pelosi, who promised, upon ascending to the Speakership that her's would be "the most ethical Congress in history." She's trying to "save the planet" after all.
And before that? Oh yes, when Bill Clinton took office didn't he promise that his would be "the most ethical administration in history?"
Can't these guys come up with any new material? I would laugh if I didn't want to cry so much. But the thing is, they're not comedians. It is as if an enemy of the United States scoured the land for the most inept, arrogant, dishonest, self-serving, piggish scum they could find and then put them up for office because they knew these people would be like one-man wrecking crews.
Our enemies couldn't have done a better job if they had picked them themselves. Hmmm... Maybe they did.
But just when you thought the scum couldn't get much slimier, along comes Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) with the most contemptible bit of hubris in a week that has been overflowing with it. Back in the 1980s, Patrick Leahy had to resign from the Intelligence Committee after a series of classified leaks, one of which may have caused an undercover agent's death. As Discover The Networks relates:
During the mid-1980s, the heart of the Reagan administration, Leahy served as vice-chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. It was while in this position of power that he earned the nickname "Leahy the Leaker." According to a 1987 San Diego Union-Tribune report, in a 1985 television appearance Leahy disclosed classified information that one of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's telephone conversations had been intercepted. The information that Leahy revealed had been used in the operation to capture the Arab terrorists who had hijacked the Achille Lauro cruise ship and killed American citizens, and the Union-Tribune claimed that Leahy's indiscretion may have cost the life of at least one of the Egyptian operatives involved in that operation. There were other similar indescretions until he was finally forced off the committee.
The man should have been shot for treason. But instead we have him proposing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission" like South Africa had. That he of all people would suggest such a thing is a moral outrage.
Now, for anyone to implicitly compare the Bush administration to the Apartheid South African government is beyond belief, but to even think that every controversial issue was not exhaustively investigated during Bush's tenure is to simply be astonishingly forgetful or unconscionably ignorant of facts. But I don't think Leahy is ignorant of anything. The man knows exactly what he is doing.
Patrick Leahy and the entire Democrat Party need to take a deep breath. They have committed countless crimes over the past thirty years with almost complete impunity because of the help they get from the media, who either suppress the story, discredit it, or attack the storyteller. They have been further aided and abetted by a hapless Republican Party and a law enforcement establishment that is too timid or corrupt to go after these people.
The current administration likely got where it is through an extensive network of corrupt organizations and activities, and much of the crisis we face today was indeed manufactured by the Left.
However, I have resisted believing that the timing of the financial crisis - despite coming as it did almost immediately following the stunningly successful Republican Convention when John McCain secured a sizeable lead in the polls - was anything more than dumb luck for Obama.
A recent revelation in a C-SPAN interview, however, raises some interesting questions. Democratic Representative Paul Kanjorski (PA-11), Capital Market Subcommittee Chair in the US House of Representatives, recently revealed the following:
Here’s the facts, and we don’t even talk about these things. On Thursday [September 18] at about eleven o’clock in the morning, the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous draw-down of money market accounts in the United States, to the tune of $550 billion dollars was being drawn out in the matter of an hour or two. The Treasury opened up its window to help. They pumped a hundred and five billion dollars in the system and quickly realized that they could not stem the tide. We were having an electronic run on the banks...
Prior to this, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had just lost 800 points between September 15 and 17. Most of that was attributed to the failure of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch's emergency buyout, and a host of other bad financial news.
I have learned from an insider in the financial business that on September 18th, most of the money was pulled by institutional investors, pension funds and the like, in response to the mounting bad news. So it remains likely that the financial system's problems had just reached critical mass, although it still troubles me that this happened just as John McCain surged ahead in the presidential campaign polls.
During the election Real Clear Politics kept an interactive timeline in graphic form showing the ups and downs of the presidential candidates' poll numbers. Go to the RCP website here and scroll down the page to the graph. McCain enjoyed one of his few leads in the polls immediately following the Republican convention. But that lead began plummeting on the 15th. Obama jumped ahead 1.9 points on September 19th, the day after the run on the bank and his lead only increased after that.
These may be coincidences, but there is no doubt that the bad economic news was a great boon to Obama's candidacy. One thing is for certain. The Democrats were able to exploit this situation quickly, accusing Republicans of causing the crisis with their "free market, anti-regulatory policies."
Nothing could be further from the truth of course. Thirty years of Democrat efforts to turn banks into welfare housing financiers indisputably created this financial crisis, despite Republican attempts to rein them in. But as usual, Republicans were inexplicably inept in seizing upon this fact to put the blame where it has always belonged: with Democrats.
In any case, we have faced one outrage after another since Obama took office. One bait and switch after another. One lie camouflaged by a smile after another. One broken promise after another.
The economic "stimulus" plan is a vast earmark bill that will stimulate tons of political capital for all those Democrat legislators too gutless to put their names to it. And yes, it will even bring some jobs to those neighborhoods (while the rest of us flounder.) You will be certain to hear about all the prosperity and happy Kulaks, but about the downside, our loyal media will be deafeningly silent.
We have endeavored to expose some of the other horrible things in this monstrosity, like seniors being cut out of "age related" medical procedures, or $4.2 billion going to ACORN. We will doubtless discover others to our horror after the bill becomes law.
So we have about had it.
If the Left wants to keep attacking on issues they know to be utterly without merit, they must know they are pushing this country towards civil war. I think they have actually been spoiling for it. I think it is part and parcel of their crisis strategy. Either we completely capitulate to their overtly fraudulent accusations, to their wholesale theft of our economy, to their relentless character assassinations, to their criminalizing of policy differences, to their treasonous activities, to their shameless power grabs, or we fight.
Are they going to come to their senses, ever? Or will they carry this country to anarchy? For that’s where we are headed if this stuff doesn’t stop.
NEWSFLASH! Caterpillar Will Rehire if "Stimulus" Passes!
Obama announced today that Caterpillar’s CEO told him they would rehire some of the 22,000 workers they recently laid off if the "stimulus" bill passes.
What exhilarating news! Fantastic!
But wait.
We pass the "stimulus," in return for which we get some of those folks back to work? Oh heck, let's be generous and hire 'em all back.
Let me see... Stimulus = $838 billion, that's $838,000,000,000 (the current Senate version anyway. No doubt it will be bigger) divided by 22,000? That comes to $38 million ($38,090,909.09 to be exact) per employee.
I'm applying for a job right now!
No! I know! Just kidding.
Obama is going to "save or create" 4 million jobs with this "Stimulus." How does he know which?
I feel so much better. That comes to a mere $209 thousand per job.
The pay is so good! Why don't we all go to work for Obama?
Oh that's right, we're going to.
Suckers.

Obama Administration Employing Crisis Strategy to Steal this Country
The Cloward Piven Strategy of Manufactured Crisis is designed to overwhelm the government with impossible demands and the Obama administration is using that strategy to overwhelm Republicans. With the economic crisis as pretext, they have loaded the "stimulus" bill with so many objectionable pieces that some will inevitably get through. Meanwhile, with Republicans fully engaged in battling this monster, they are engaging in an unprecedented attempt to hijack the entire electoral process while nobody is looking.
Fox News reported today that Obama plans to take over the 2010 Census and supervise it from the White House. This is unprecedented and every U.S. citizen who cares about the future of our country should be outraged. Considering Obama’s demonstrated reliance on the corruption-ridden tactics of ACORN and similar get-out-the-vote groups, people should also be horrified.
The Decennial Census determines apportionment and redistricting of Congressional voting districts, and controlling the count would provide rampant opportunities to skew the result in Democrats’ favor. It is simply astonishing that Obama would be so brazen.
Normally, this function is performed by the Census Bureau, a Commerce Department agency. The bureau is subject to oversight by both Parties through relevant Congressional committees.
Republicans insist that the Census bureau physically count heads, a difficult and expensive proposition. But the Democrat preference for “estimating” inner city populations is fraught with errors and opportunities to skew numbers in their favor. They have fought over this in the past, and the head count method has fortunately prevailed. But apparently Obama doesn’t want to debate.
This is suggested further by the fact that his recently appointed Commerce Secretary, the hapless Republican Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH), will now have no input into the process. Gregg’s website meanwhile, hasn’t issued a peep about this outrage, proving Gregg is exactly the patsy Obama pegged him to be.
This abomination cannot go unanswered. Call your Congressional offices and demand Obama leave the Census where it belongs.
Economic “Stimulus” Bill a Tidal Wave of Monstrosities
Meanwhile, news of the outrages contained in Obama’s fraudulently misnamed “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009” bill is now coming in waves over the transom so fast it is impossible to catalog them all. But here are some big ones:
Socialized Health Care
Bloomberg reports that sweeping health care provisions contained in the House version have been completely overlooked. These provisions describe a vast, big-brother health bureaucracy that will oversee and judge every aspect of patient care, with some very scary protocols.
They include a new bureaucracy titled the “National Coordinator of Health Information Technology” which will track all medical treatments in the United States through a centralized electronic database, monitoring procedures for “cost effectiveness,” and providing cost-based recommendations.
Another bureaucracy, the “Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research” will create a list of approved procedures for various conditions. Doctors will face penalties for not participating in this system.
According to the article, these items are the brainchild of disgraced tax cheat, Obama’s first choice for HHS Secretary, Tom Daschle, who listed them in a 2008 book on healthcare that he authored.
Old folks probably won’t have to worry about financing an extended retirement. As Bloomberg relates:
Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. (Emphasis mine.) Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost-effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council. So if it isn’t cost-effective, seniors, sounds like you’re gonna be SOL. Better brush up that will while you still have your wits – if you haven’t lost them already with this news.
An Army of Democratic Patronage Jobs
A Youtube audio is making the rounds featuring a call to the Michael Savage radio show in which the caller claims to be a conservative democrat from Chicago. This is an anonymous source, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt, but listen to the exchange. It is food for thought, and as I have written in an earlier post, seems a part with everything else Obama is doing.
This source claims he was in a planning meeting and:
I was told by the Democratic officials in that meeting that we were going to get billions of dollars…to build an army of democratic patronage jobs that is going to completely freeze out the republicans for ever and ever… It’s a job patronage system, the same one that they have in Chicago… Everyone’s asking ‘why aren’t they releasing some of that money until 2011, 2012?’… because it needs to be released at the time it that gets close to the election so they don’t go and blow the money and spend it [beforehand]… We were told there were going to be more employees working for the Democrats in this patronage system than there are in the U.S. Army…” (Emphasis mine.)
What about All That Other Stuff?
Remember that $650 million “converter box” boondoggle? Removed by those hard-nosed Republican Senate negotiators, Collins, Snowe and Specter, right? Nope! Still in – along with a whole list of government expansion projects and other stuff too numerous to list, 778 pages in all. I sincerely doubt if anyone has read the entire thing, let alone analyzed its monstrous implications.
“Change You Can Count On” is coming to a town near you!
Despite his promise of “hope” to replace fear, Obama has hit the road on an unprecedented campaign of apocalyptic fear mongering to drum up public support for his economic “stimulus” bill.
Well, he has succeeded in one regard. I am terrified! We all should be terrified. But we should be terrified of what will happen if this bill passes. Contact your Congressmen and Senators now and demand in the strongest terms that this monstrosity go down to the ignoble defeat it so richly deserves.
It is high time we removed the scales from our eyes. Obama and his cohorts are mean, selfish, corrupt people, and they are attempting to steal this country right out from under us. We’d better do something before it’s too late.

Three People Have Just Ruined this Country
All it takes is a few...
Republican Senators Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Arlen Specter committed treason tonight. That’s right, out and out treason. They took it upon themselves, these three megalomaniacal, mindless, bloated egos, to spit in the face of the entire Republican Party, virtually the whole economics profession and 67 percent of the American people, to give Senate Democrats enough votes to pass Obama’s monstrous “stimulus” bill.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!????
This bill will NOT stimulate the economy. This bill will NOT create new private sector jobs. This bill will NOT help our current situation. It will destroy this country. This bill is a PAYOFF to Obama’s corrupt supporters at ACORN and in the UNIONS, the rest is a laundry list of Democrat pork and pie-in-the-sky projects that will only bear fruit YEARS down the road, if at all! The tax provisions are paltry crumbs tossed to fools like you who think compromise is more important than content! Are you INSANE? You are IDIOTS!
In one fell swoop you will have increased the current deficit to over $2 trillion! That is almost three quarters of last year’s total federal spending of $2.7 trillion. In one fell swoop you will have mortgaged our future, set us up for spiraling inflation, while cementing the corrupt Democrat Party in power. And there will be a lot more where this came from if they have anything to say about it. Now thanks to you they will have LOTS more to say.
The websites of these three bottomless nitwits are astonishing in their transparency. Olympia Snowe brags that she worked as a: “consensus-builder to develop bipartisan compromise…” What “consensus?” WHAT BIPARTISAN COMPROMISE? Only two other Republicans agreed!!
She goes on breathlessly to report that: “during a one-on-one meeting in the Oval Office with President Obama, Senator Snowe discussed the shortcomings of the legislation…”
No, wait! With the Messiah himself?!? One on one?!??
Oh!
My!
GOD!
Did you actually get to speak with Him?
The only compromise, Senator was you. And that only because you put yourself in a compromising position. You mindless, despicable, arrogant, self-centered fool!
Susan Collins is even more transparent. At least she got something out of the deal: a seat on the all powerful Appropriations Committee, where she will get to dole out the pork with the best of them. No doubt after picking through this encyclopedia-sized bill, we will find that the $1 trillion “stimulus” will stimulate folks in her neck of the woods, never mind what happens to the rest of us poor sots!
Arlen Specter, meanwhile has helped pass a bill providing tax relief only for companies who use migrant workers! GREAT! So now we have the illegal immigrant faction covered. I know all those mushroom farms in Kennett Square, PA, and the hundred or so migrant farm workers they hire are important to you, Senator, but how does that help the economy?!?
In your entire ignoble career, Senator, you have proven yourself treacherous, two-faced and destructive. But this takes the cake. With friends like you in the Republican Party, who needs enemies? Indeed, with friends like you in the U.S. Senate, the American people don’t need enemies.
So we have ACORN, the Unions, the poor, and now the illegal immigrants – the Democrat voting base, in other words. Who have we missed?
I doubt if the Democrats missed anyone in that bill. How could they? No matter, there’s always next year. As long as you have a few gullible, ignorant Republicans to give you cover.
This Bill is literally the worst legislation I have seen since I began paying attention to Congress over twenty years ago. And unless Republicans pull off a miracle in conference, this bill is a done deal. Expect to see it passed in the dead of night. As it was, the Senate chose Friday evening to pass this latest version. The final markup will likely make it to the White House for signature under cover of darkness. That’s the way they do things in Washington when they don’t want you to see what’s in it.
This legislation will destroy this economy and create a tangled web of new problems that Democrats will solve with – you guessed it – MORE spending. And you have assured us that Republicans will be unable to stop it.
Will somebody please turn off the lights on the way out?
